October saw the release of Battlestar Galactica Season 4 on DVD and we were on hand to help Universal Playback engage and excite the core fan base with our video banner builder, a tool which essentially allows users to do our online marketing for us and create their own, personalised banners! We also built the online advertising creative, including this expandable leaderboard which makes excellent use of high action video before expanding out to showcase bios for the full cast. Likewise, the expandable MSN banner has the same scrolling character biography mechanic for users to familiarise themselves with the cast. We are happy to announce that in its first week of release, the DVD sales smashed the client’s sales targets. Excellent news all round!

So take a look at the new media toolkit we have just launched for Paramount’s Eagle Eye. There are some brilliant sequential advertising formats which each convey different messaging, giving users who view them an increasing sense of being watched online. These ran on MTV and Yahoo across territories. Also worth a mention ore the expandable leaderboard and skyscraper which give users an innovative ‘hacked database’ experience to explore the key characters.

Smashing out of the NMM offices this month (sorry!) is the International toolkit for Universal’s Home Entertainment release of The Incredible Hulk. Especially tasty is the expandable leaderboard which sees Hulk rip out of the ad unit, whilst in the expandable MPU he gives you the evil green eye. There is also a video content and countdown MPU-sized widget, perfect for the Hulk fans out there.

How to forget Sarah Marshall

May we present you with Sextris, a nice little Flash game where the user must slot the falling naked people together in compromising positions, all for UPIE’s release of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Highly addictive, starring sex god Russell Brand and as a result, a little bit smutty… just how we like it!

We have recently begun working closely with lovely agency Frank PR, and have just completed our first creative build, a campaign site for Cancer Research UK’s Run 10k. The site was built mainly in html and to a ‘AA W3C’ Accessibility Standard to ensure that it is usable by as many people as possible. On it you can take a quiz which cleverly estimates how long it would take you to complete the 10k run based on your vital statistics and lifestyle, challenge a friend to do the run with you or simply sign up yourself. It’s for a good cause…

More nice work for our friends at UPIE, this expandable leaderboard hosts the lovely little spyglass game we built. Players must explore Nim’s Island using her telescope to find her friends and other island-themed objects against the sand timer clock. Great little interactive game within a banner which will engage and increase brand dwell-time.

Teetering on the edge

A key element of EA’s new console and PC title Mirror’s Edge is the fluid movement - think parkour and free running. So when we put together this advertising toolkit we wanted to capture the essence of the movement within the ad units by cleverly editing together in-game video, interspersing it with key messaging and adding in some beautiful After Effects. Take a look (note that the ads may not sync perfectly as they’re not being served by the ad server on this page)…

We build the new Number 10 website

Heading

We’ve been very busy over the past few months on our Top Secret Project, namely designing, migrating and building the new Number 10 Downing Street website! What’s significant about this is that we have used blogging platform Wordpress (also used here) to do this.

We can’t say too much at this stage but the site is due to go live very soon. For a sneak preview you can take a gander at some screengrabs of the Homepage, Communicate page, Meet the PM page, History and Tour page and the Number 10 TV page on the Downing Street Flickr channel.

We will post again once the site is live with our shiny new press release and more info so watch this space…

Ever since Heroes hit our screens it has become something of a cult phenomenon, so we focused our creative campaign for the release of the Season 2 box set on engaging the fans and giving them content to share. Firstly, we created a widget which plays to host to an exclusive clip. The hook? The more people who embed the widget, the more of the clip they are able to see. We also created a snaggable video MPU which allows the users to grab it as a widget and place on their own social network profile or blog, along with a standard leaderboard and wide sky to be used on the Film channel on The Sun website. Finally, we built an expandable video banner for MSN Messenger which has been used to target the audience demographic and reach out to Heroes fans.

Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging
In: creative, newsletter

Ahh, thongs and snogging, we remember being a teenager…But enough of the nostalgia. Our new media toolkit for said British teen flick is based on the doodle-esque key art and, with our extra Flash-based flourishes and animation, we are pretty proud of it. Alongside the standard formats are some lovely expandables which, upon expand, lets the user navigate Georgia’s pin board to find a host of movie-related information and content. There are ‘quiz formats’ which calculates which movie character the user is most like and a ‘fan kit’ of embeddable ads so that users can essentially place them on their social networks or blogs and advertise for us. All clever stuff.

If we may so ourselves! With some 1970’s, retrotastic key art, our new media toolkit for Paramount’s The Love Guru is really standout, and even the standard formats are full of colour and life. I don’t think I need to say anymore, just take a look yourself.

Step Up 2 The Streets
In: creative
Heading

Here is our latest toolkit for UPIE for Step Up 2 The Streets. Especially nice is the expandable sky, which makes excellent use of video, filling up the entire space upon expand for a really high impact effect. This is perfect for showcasing the slick dance moves captured within the video content. Recently we have been using Gigya technology to wrap up and widgetise pieces of content, just as we have done with the video MPU here. The great thing about using Gigya is that it is relatively simple to code and can be used to post to the majority of social network profiles and blog systems.
