And so 2009 commences and we would like to wish all our clients and readers a Happy New Year! Our New Years resolutions include continuing the great work for existing and new clients, adding a few more awards to our shelf and launching a shiny new website (keep your eyes peeled). Here’s to a good year…
Influential trend site Trend Hunter has created a video detailing the hottest viral videos of 2008 so far. Amongst the inmates dancing to Thriller and Dove’s Campaign For Real Beauty you will find our shooting at a baby pram video (18 seconds in), part of our award winning Bullet Proof Baby Campaign. That is most definitely viral…
We are happy to announce that our That’s Entertainment campaign site for Harrods has won the prestigious ‘Site of the Week’ award at influential trade magazine New Media Age with a great score of 83/100 (download the scanned article here). Big congratulations to everyone involved with the campaign and thank to NMA for recognising us!
Firstly, my apologies to everyone who received our last edition of our ‘Bloggy News’ email twice, unfortunately this was down to yet another error from our blog-to-email supplier ‘Feedblitz’.
When I first found the Feedblitz service, I was blown away. It’s a web tool which automatically creates an email newsletter from your blog posts and fires them out to your subscriber base without you having to lift a finger at a pre-defined date and time each month.
Problems first occurred a couple of months ago, when somehow their database accidentally sent someone elses blog posts to my subscribers. Feedblitz seemed pretty nonchalent about the whole thing when I emailed them about it, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt (this despite them having one of the worst User Interfaces for any paying service I use on the net). However, this weekend’s double email is the kiss of death, so I’ve taken the plunge and switched to the lovely Nourish.
Super quick sign up, beautiful UI, quick configuration, subtle 3rd party branding, great sign up form which keeps users on my site and a sensible pricing plan to boot. Feedblitz suddenly looks very web 1.0.
Please let me know if you experience any problems with future emails as I’m keen to keep a close eye on new suppliers.
In the past we have dabbled with the world of luxury goods but here is our first big campaign, for the ultimate purveyors in luxury, Harrods. At the world famous store, the next couple of months plays host to ‘That’s Entertainment!’ themed performances, film screenings and a whole host of exciting events. We were on hand to quickly turn around the campaign site which includes, amongst other things, full event listings, competitions and our very own produced video charades!
Not ones to shy away from a free bar, this month we attended the Y Design Awards ceremony. Although we were pipped to the post, we had made it onto the shortlist in the most popular category, Interactive, for our work on Bullet Proof Baby last year. We are always happy to have our work recognised and we are extremely proud of our nomination so congrats to us! We have also just received word that we have been shortlisted for both the IMA Awards and the Pixel Awards (vote for us here) for our work on Carrie’s MacBook so fingers are duly crossed…
We’ve been very busy over the past few months on our Top Secret Project, namely designing, migrating and building the new Number 10 Downing Street website! What’s significant about this is that we have used blogging platform Wordpress (also used here) to do this.
We can’t say too much at this stage but the site is due to go live very soon. For a sneak preview you can take a gander at some screengrabs of the Homepage, Communicate page, Meet the PM page, History and Tour page and the Number 10 TV page on the Downing Street Flickr channel.
We will post again once the site is live with our shiny new press release and more info so watch this space…
As featured on this here blog recently, our Carrie’s MacBook content piece for the Sex and the City movie has not only done phenomenally well in terms of visits and user interaction, it has also won us a few awards! We received e-creative’s Website of the Day on 21st May and Design Licks Site of the Day on 31st May, as well as 1st Runner Up in the IAB Creative Showcase for May 2008. Last, but by no means least, it was also crowned New Media Age’s Campaign of the Month. Grab a copy of NMA this week to see the feature, and a lovely photograph of our Head of Strategy, Mr Christian Edwards. Alternatively, you can click here to download a PDF scan of the pages. Congratulations us!
Not the plastic surgery type, that’s still a couple of years off. Unless it’s your first visit, or you’re completely blind, or have a really bad memory, you’ll notice we’ve freshened up our logo. After weeks of navel gazing, we’ve come up with the new look and feel which is implemented across the site. I could go into huge detail as to why the choice of font, colours etc, but it would be post event rationalization of the first order. I’m just strangely drawn to pink, ok?
What better way to start the New Year than with some lovely new clients? Thomas Cook came to us as their existing online advertising formats were relatively generic and simple. Naturally, they required something a little sexier to help promote their travel services.
Our first creative build for flythomascook.com is this rather heart warming MPU which was used to help promote their special Valentines deals. This is built entirely in flash with a little action scripting, therefore counteracting file size restraints, yet still keeping the format slick and eye catching and within the 30k size. A standard banner, sky and MPU, and a special Mothers Day banner complete the set.
Thanks to our blossoming relationship with EA Games, we have just completed our first work for their mobile division. Take a look at the slick animation on the MPU ad format we built to help promote their downloadable mobile game Block’d and the toolkit for SimCity Societies mobile game.
We are currently in the throes of a project for our US friends New Line Cinema for what is set to be the biggest chick flick of 2008…Sex And The City. It’s all a bit hush hush at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled in the coming months. To whet your appetite you can check out the official US website and production blog for all things SATC related.
We are happy to announce that, as of January 2008, we will be working with DNC Entertainment to help promote their DVD releases. Hurrah!
We New Media Mazers have been a busy bunch, and this month has seen the birth of two more beautiful baby boys…within 24 hours of one another! Congratulations to Will and his wife on the birth of Tomas Harley Tunstall, and also to Kelly and her husband and the arrival of Robert Mason Dohn. Awwww!
We are happy to announce that we have recently completed our very first piece of work for Blackwell Publishing. To help promote their ‘at a Glance’ series of student medical books, we created a viral memory game based on the classic ‘pairs’ game. Test your memory here and you could even win yourself a snazzy new iPod nano, iTunes gift card and copies of the books to help increase your knowledge.
How far would you go for your best mate? Would you marry them? Seriously? Weirdo!
Check out the creative work we have done for the forthcoming theatrical release of “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” for UPI here
A project award this time, but equally exciting, we’re going to be handling the UK online marketing campaign for Shrek The Third for Paramount Family. This will be the third Shrek DVD release we’ve worked on (appropriately). Activity is going to include online advertising, online pr and some innovative big online promotions. Watch this swamp for details and repare yourself for an onslaught of Shrek-related puns over the coming months…
We’ve only gone and won another award! This month, we are very proud to have picked up the CIPR award for ‘Best Use of New Media’ for our ‘Introducing the Techguys’ viral campaign, created for client DSGi. This was their first ever viral and was a huge success (although it seems like ages ago that we launched it!). Well done to all in the agency who worked on it. In the words of Frank Gallagher, “Roll out the vol-au-vents, lets ‘ave a fookin’ party!”
We kicked off the month with a new client project for Kickers. The campaign, which builds on the ‘revolutionary’ tone of last year’s work, is the result of a multi-agency collaboration involving creative agency Karmarama, communication strategy shop Naked, activation agency Launch, web designers Pre-Loaded and ourselves handling the online marketing. Our work includes planning & buying the media, some major promotions and promoting the campaign amongst social networks.
More Youtube shenanigans this month for the theatrical release of The Darwin Awards, when we ran a competition on behalf of Icon Films to find the best failed Darwin Award attempt on YouTube. This was supported by a snazzy MySpace page which they liked it so much that they asked us to make one for The Chumscrubber too. Nice!
